Robin Blom
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism and the director of the Unified Research Lab (URL) at Ball State University, as well as co-faculty advisor of Cardinal Metrics, a student-run media analytics agency. I also served as the graduate director of our master's program in journalism from 2015 until last summer. I am a former Ball Brothers Foundation Honors College Faculty Fellow (2020-2022), which allowed me to teach Eyewitness misidentification and social injustice, Pseudoscience and conspiracy theories, and the honors thesis writing course.

Before transitioning into academia, I was a local reporter at national and regional daily newspapers in The Netherlands. Some of my stories were about alcohol use by minors in rural communities, court cases involving sexual abuse victims, and protests against street violence. On a lighter note, it was fun to cover the birth of animals in the Rotterdam Zoo and write about concerts of Shakira, The White Stripes, Paul McCartney, Stereophonics, Tiesto, and others.

I am currently on the Board of Directors of Nonprofit Sector News (NSN), a wire service start-up that covers all U.S. nonprofits—charities to foundations, labor unions to trade groups—nationwide, with news, features, and investigative journalism.
