Leader Dog for the Blind
I have been a volunteer puppy raiser for Leader Dog for the Blind. Both Charlie and Boba spent an entire year with me on campus. They joined me during classes and all kind of faculty meetings. Both puppies also attended many academic conferences around the country. (Charlie even had Silver Medallion status on Delta Airlines.) Unfortunately, they did not make the final cut to become an official guide dog and now live their best pet lives with great families in Michigan. (However, Boba is now a certified therapy dog to support children reading books in local libraries.) Both pups taught many people on the Ball State campus and everywhere else we went to ignore guide and service dogs when they are working hard in public.
